Growing Location

The San Joaquin Valley:

The San Joaquin Valley covers a vast area of California. Bordered by the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east and coastal mountains to the west, it is home to some of the richest farmland in the country. The soil, combined with cool winter months and hot, dry summer months provides perfect growing conditions for stone fruit, grapes, citrus, nuts, cotton and tomatoes – just to name a few of the area’s major crops. Recent years have seen the addition of crops new to this area such as blueberries, cherries and apples.

Our Farms

Our primary farm is located in central California just north of the city of Visalia. This is the heart of stone fruit country. Over 75% of the stone fruit grown in the state is grown within a 25 mile radius of Reedley, CA. Our newest farming location is at the western edge of the valley and gives us some unique farming opportunities. This area, near Kettleman City, sits slightly higher in elevation than the valley floor. In the winter, this area is just above the valley fog and therefore not quite as cold. Spring comes a little earlier to this area which enables us to plant trees with lower dormancy requirements. Trees bloom earlier and fruit ripens earlier. This means that we are able to get fresh, U.S. grown fruit into stores in late April or early May.
